I love that our kids have learned all different styles of music. Brooke has been great at finding music at the kids skill level and genres my kids are most passionate about. Keeping those two aspects in mind have kept my kids practicing every day and engaging in their love and appreciation for music. We have seen them interested in jazz, pop, classical, classic rock, rock and sound track music. Having a teacher that is skilled and equipped to teach all of these genres is priceless. And at the end of the day, my kids are expressing music that resonates with them and hopefully they continue their musical expression throughout their lives.

My daughter has just started her fourth year of piano lessons with Brooke Baker and I couldn't be more pleased. Brooke is professional, fun, and never stops learning for herself, which makes her an amazing teacher… One thing I love about Brooke's teaching style is that she focuses on the "whole package" of learning the piano: sight reading music, ear training, theory, improvisation, and technique. Brooke even works with her students to teach them how to be good performers by showing them how to enter the stage, how to sit correctly at the piano, play their piece, wait for applause, bow, and exit. She encourages confidence in her students by giving them plenty of opportunities to perform and always encourages their efforts. It is clear that she loves kids and loves to teach piano. Finding Brooke Baker was an answer to prayer when I was looking to get my daughter started in piano. We are blessed to have found her!

We were so impressed with how much our 12-year old learned in just two years, that we enrolled our younger children as well.  Brooke is fantastic at customizing lesson plans and goals to meet the needs of each individual student so everyone is successful.  Brooke holds high, but realistic expectations for students that allow them to grow by taking responsibility for recording their practice time, completing additional assignments, having them pick their own music within the specifications of their goals, and identifying and improving upon areas in need.  Our kids enjoy piano with Brooke so much, we often hear that weekly lessons aren't enough.  Our children are not only learning to play piano, they are learning to love music.

Brooke has been such an important part of my life since my first lesson when I was six. I’m forever grateful for her not only teaching me how to play the piano, but for all the experiences and memories she gave me. I have so many memories, some good, and others not so much. Like when I cried the first time she made me improvise. But there’s also fun memories like when she had to tell me to not say “rest” out loud during the performance because the mic would pick it up…  These years of being taught by Brooke are unforgettable.  The most important thing I have to thank her for though, is for always believing in me.  She made me perform at festival even though I was terrified because she knew I could do it.  And she never gave up on trying to get me to sing, and she cried when I finally did it at the recital last year.  I wouldn’t be who I am today if it weren’t for Brooke… I’m so so SO glad I had her as a piano teacher and role model.  She’s one of my favorite people ever and I love her so much.

Where to begin? I have so much admiration for Brooke; she was not only a wonderful piano teacher, but in fact a mentor in life. I took lessons from her for over 10 years, and throughout that time I learned more than just piano. I learned how to flourish in the arts and more importantly how to let the crippling idea of perfectionism go. So often, with art disciplines, we’re pressured to be perfect, but Brooke has this beautiful way of teaching that pairs classical training with a down-to-earth style. She cares endlessly about her students and it shows; from amazing recitals, to the extra-curricular piano gigs, to keeping in contact with students even after they graduate. This very characteristic didn’t make practicing painful, it made it exciting and gave us the freedom to truly make it our own. Brooke doesn’t simply teach piano, she teaches you to be the best person you can be. Piano was my major outlet while growing up, and I wouldn’t have traded my time with her for anything. I could not recommend Brooke enough!

Ms. Brooke is very kind and lets you make your own song and play it. - Zyna, age 8

Brooke let me learn what I wanted to learn.   When I started lessons, I didn't know how to play the piano at all. Now, I can download sheet music to a song I like, and figure out how to play it all on my own. That's pretty good!
